CycleGuard now with BioMax preserves beneficial bacteria for a stress free environment. Invisible and harmless, beneficial bacteria are essential in the removal of toxic ammonia and nitrite. AquaClear's patented refiltration system allows you to control the flow rate without compromising filtration efficiency. When the flow rate is reduced, up to 50% of the water within the filter chamber is processed multiple times. a little noisy

Had 2 of these over many years. They were always perfectly silent. I hear the water gurgling as it exits the container before it spills into the tank. Have tried different water heights and checking the propeller but to no avail. The sound gets annoying. But I can say it keeps the 10 gal tank perfectly at the lowest gph setting. The fish are happy.

- kinda wish there was a way to switch from one side of the tank to the other. I can't make it fit on the other downpipe because of the design of the filter. but overall, excellent.

Perfect for the job.

I like these HOB filters. No need for bio wheels or bio media in a reef tank and these are just great for putting whatever media you choose in them. Great flow and small footprint made it the perfect choice for my application.
