Door is nice but it is hard to program where the buttons are located and I’m returning it because the door size is too narrow for my cats

Doesn't work for my cat

I also have a metal door and disc should be taken very close to the door to be recognized by sensor. When it is on my cat, it doesn't work, because disc is too far from the door. So now I just confogured it to training mode and it is always unlocked.

Better than expected

After reading the reviews, we were worried about using in our metal door. However, this is the only door we found in this price range that had the timer option (very important for us!), so we decided to go ahead and get it. We have limited handy-man/woman skills and were able to install this cat door into our metal door with no problem. Our cat is slow to figure it out, but with a food motivator and just being consistent he is learning it and I am sure will be able to use with no issues in the next week! I would recoommend this door!!!

Product solves critical pet need, but...

Really great invention, in that I can keep my cats in at night and not have to worry about them. However... whoever designed this device should go back to microsoft - it's really bad. I'm a computer programmer and this thing is ridiculously tricky to program. There are missing functions - wouldn't it make sense to be able to hit a button to override whatever the current program is? Not available. Too bad they didn't get someone from apple to design the usability...

Metal door owners beware

We have a metal door and the cat door does not want to work...we cut out the door as the instructions listed and put the metal squares in the key for the cats collar but our cats have to get so close to the door before it works...and I think the scanning time is limited...you have to be really quick to hit the door to start the scan process and then get the key on the cats collar just right and within 3-4 seconds...if you hit the door too many times it goes into a hibernation mode and then you have to wait for a full 60 seconds before you hit the door again. I would hope that it would work better in a non-metal door but I can't say for sure....
